Sonshine Ministries

Sonshine Ministries is a non-denominational Christian resource ministry for churches and have theirr main office in Lodi, California (between Sacramento and Stockton). They offer a variety of unique houseboat experiences from Jr. High through College age groups. Sonshine began in 1975 when a group of people, committed to serving God, organized to help churches equip their people for ministry. Since then, they have seen the Lord use their ministry to draw thousands of young lives to Him.

Sonshine Specilized Camping Ministries operates under a Special Use Permit from the Shasta-Trinity National Forest on a non-discriminatory basis.

Here's how it works: Camps take place on the Sacramento River Delta and on Lake Shasta in Northern California. Houseboats and ski boats are rented directly by your organization. The ministry assist's you in the reservation process and have your boats completely ready when you arrive. Their program service contract provides you with all of the food and equipment. Many of their volunteer staff are CPR and First Aid certified. Their staff will oversee boating, meals and recreation, and assist with ministry as much or little as you desire.

A typical day with Sonshine: Wake up to the early morning sun and notice the beauty and peaceful quiet of being on the water. After breakfast, there is quiet time and Bible Study. Bible Study can be individual or conducted in small groups. Then it’s time for skiing, wakeboarding, knee boarding, banana boating, and swimming. After lunch, the afternoon is filled with skiing, swimming, floating, games, reading, fishing, suntanning and exploring. There is also time for good, meaningful conversations. After dinner and cleanup, there is a night meeting with the whole group. Often this is a time for singing, sharing and perhaps a talk from one of your leaders. After the night meeting, many play group games or talk before it’s time to go to sleep! Typically, it’s a very full day.
