Scott Thomas Ministries
Scott Thomas Ministries founder Dr. Scott Thomas is a Baptist evangelist from Temple, GA. He and his wife, Tessa, are members of Truth Baptist Church, Breman, GA pastored by Brother Toby Powers. Scott and Tessa have been married since 1996, and they have one child, Cameron.
Brother Scott was saved at age eight in an old-fashioned revival at Maple Grove Baptist Church in Morganton, GA. He announced his calling to preach in 1986 at the age of eighteen. His ministry has included a nine year radio broadcast, pastor of two churches, singing with two professional Southern Gospel groups (Tony Gore & Majesty and Ricky Atkinson & Compassion), and full-time evangelist.
Brother Scott also has his Doctors degree in Ministry. A couple of well known songs Scott wrote are God Still Answers Prayer by Karen Peck & New River and Home With This Sinner. Home With This Sinner was recorded by Tony Gore & Majesty, Jody Brown Indian Family, and Ricky Atkinson & Compassion.
Throughout Scott's ministry he has spoken or sung in churches across the U.S., Ireland, and Scotland. He has appeared on Bill Gaither Homecoming Videos, the Grand Ole Opry, and the National Quartet Conviction with two separate groups.
Though he is thankful for what God has done in the past with his ministry, Brother Scott is even more excited about the future of his ministry. His passion has always been to preach the gospel and sing for the Lord. He is even more excited about the Marvelous Marriage Ministry.
The Marvelous Marriage Ministry promises to bless couples that are young, old, or middle-aged through the couple retreats and marriage strengthening courses. Furthermore it will help pastors to more affectively employ strong leaders to conduct these courses which in turn will cut the pastor's marriage counseling time.
Scott adds, "Ministry is all I have known since I was a teenager, and I look forward to many more years serving the Lord."
As a teenager, Scott sung in a group of high school friends known as the Harmony Brothers. Scott sang baritone, and the tenor singer was Barry Scott. Barry went on to sing with the Perrys and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver; he now has his own group known as Barry Scott & Second Wind.
Mrs. Tessa was saved at age nine, and she grew up with a strong foundation. Her grandfather was her pastor, her dad was the choir leader, her mother played the piano, and her sister played the organ. Her brother, brother-in-law, and uncle are preachers and have pastored conservative fundamental churches. Tessa has been a strong asset to this ministry. She is the singing voice of the two that touches the hearts of many people.
Brother Scott relies on Tessa not only for her ability to sing, but for her ability to play the piano and sing for the invitation. She seems to always know the perfect song selection for the invitation. Tessa is and has been the mother, educator in home-schooling, a pastor's wife, and prayer warrior.
Though Tessa has written numerous songs, her most noted was the hit song Ain't Gonna Run recorded by the Jody Brown Indian Family. She also sung professionally, along the side of Scott, in the group Ricky Atkinson & Compassion.
