Jesus came to this earth to give the gift of salvation. By giving his life on the cross that all who believe on him would have ever lasting life. People who get lot's of earthly riches tend to forget Father God who gave it to them and they follow the lust of the flesh.

This was what got Israel in trouble with God and still in trouble with God today. Of course if you love mammon more than God then go for it and reap what you sow.
