Joy Williams is a Christian music singer and songwriter who lives in California.
Joy Elizabeth Williams-Yetton had planned on a career in journalism or family therapy.
Instead, she signed with Reunion Records and released her self-entitled debut project in July 2001.
She soon started attracting much attention and went touring in support of the album, all while attending high school.
In 2002 she released her second album, By Surprise. In 2005 her hit song "Hide", from the album Genesis, topped 7 radio charts in Christian radio.
Williams grew up in the Santa Cruz Mountains, where her father, Roger Williams, served as the executive director of Mount Hermon Christian Conference Center. During high school, Williams excelled and was often labeled as an overachiever.
She maintained a 4.0 GPA while also filling the roles of varsity athlete and student body president at Valley Christian High School.
At the age of 14, Williams was offered a recording contract. When a second recording contract was presented to her two years later, she signed.
Williams recorded her debut album and performing on two major tours while still in high school. Melvin Lourdes trained her to sing to what she is singing now.
On June 12, 2004, she married Nate Yetton in the Redwoods of California. In 2005, she attempted to venture into mainstream radio with her single "We", but the single received little mainstream attention.

Joy Williams exhibits the "joy of the Lord" in all that she does. Now, with the release of her sophomore album, Joy "takes it up a notch." Taking an active role in the musical direction and production process as well as contributing multiple cuts as a songwriter, Joy is the dominating creative force on this new album. The result is a fresh pop sound reminiscent of mainstream artists such as Natalie Imbruglia, Nelly Furtado and Sheryl Crow.
Joy challenges listeners lyrically in the song "Surrender" to daily give every area of their lives to God as they walk in the light of His love. The song "Desperate" urges us to depend on God for everything in life. Another highlight is the thought-provoking song "I Wonder" that asks how God could love us so much that He would actually die for us.
