From The Heart Ministries

From The Heart Ministries was founded by Pastor John A. Cherry,II a born-again, Spirit-filled, man of God, who gave his life to the Lord in 1981 at the age of 11. Pastor Cherry received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies with a minor in English from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. He is married to Rev. LaWanda M. Cherry and they have two daughters, Abriona and Aleah and one son, John A. Cherry, III.

Pastor Cherry was officially installed as the Pastor of From the Heart Church Ministries located in Temple Hills, Maryland on Sunday, June 4, 2006 at the 25th Anniversary Sunday Worship Service, which was held at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC. His assignment is to build upon the foundation that has already been laid by Episcopal Pastor, John A. Cherry. From the Heart has over 27,000 members.

Pastor Cherry has a desire to do the will of the Father, to preach His uncompromised Word and a readiness to obey God’s instructions. He not only has spiritual oversight over the church, but he manages the daily operations of the ministry. There are over 100 people on staff, ten departments, a From the Heart Christian School, which ranges from pre-school and kindergarten to high school students and over 70 volunteer ministries.

He is the Vice-chairman of the Episcopal Council, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and he sits on the Supervisory Committee for the None Suffer Lack Federal Credit Union. He also ministers at the church’s Annual Men’s Retreat, Youth Institute and Marriage Enrichment Retreat.

Pastor Cherry is a self-proclaimed “equal opportunity preacher” and has preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ with boldness and conviction at many churches around the world, ranging from the smallest to the largest.
