Extreme Sports Ministries
Extreme Sports Ministries or Breakaway Outreach was founded by Jimmy and Cindy Larche and incorporated in 1995.
In 1987, Jimmy encountered the life-changing hope of Jesus Christ in a Florida juvenile detention center when he was 16-years-old. He later dedicated his life to helping troubled youth find a way out of their waywardness.
Jimmy and Cindy's passion is to see hurting kids experience hope through a genuine relationship with Christ. They express that hope through a myriad of culturally diverse outreach programs to bring the gospel to juvenile offenders, children of inmates, and other kids in crisis.
Breakaway also initiated the National Network of Ministries to At-Risk Youth; a growing alliance of like-minded ministries, organizations, and volunteers who are sharing resources, strategies, aftercare solutions, and other valuable helps in reaching incarcerated youth.
Breakaway Outreach is a faith-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to reaching kids in crisis through innovative juvenile detention center ministries, adventure camps for at-risk youth, culturally relevant media resources, mentoring initiatives, sports outreaches, youth leadership training, and community networking.
Their MISSION is to empower the lives of at-risk youth through the hope and message of Jesus Christ.
Their VISION is that every youth at-risk be afforded the opportunity to hear and respond to the life-changing message of Jesus Christ and that they are equipped with relationships and resources to grow in a relationship with God.
They partner with local churches, volunteers, and organizations nationally and internationally to empower at-risk youth and their families holistically.
Extreme Sports Ministries programs are as follows...
Breakaway staff and trained volunteers provide outreach services for kids locked up in youth detention facilities, jails, and youthful offender prisons. Most of the kids who attend these services hear the gospel for the very first time while they are incarcerated. Athletes, youth workers, and volunteers also participate in sports outreaches within juvenile detention facilities for the purpose of building mentoring relationships with youths.
Communicating God's "story" through various sports outreaches with extreme sports demos, basketball trick shows, athletic tournaments, strong man exhibitions, testimonies from professional athletes, and more. The Breakaway Xperience is an action sports tour taking the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to this generation of young people through juvenile center outreaches, school assemblies, youth rallies, and community wide church events.
