Christian Ministries in India
Christian Ministries in India is an indigenous movement of Christian churches located in villages, towns and cities across the state. ICM was founded by James & Sarah Rebbavarapu. The local churches serve as a base from which ICM engages in various service activities aimed at improving the living conditions of the poor in India, irrespective of caste, creed or religion. ICM’s desire is to impact every area of the people’s lives in a positive and life changing way. ICM has instituted programs, events and camps to address the needs of the poor in areas such as health and hygiene, education, famine and flood relief.
ICM is not only helping the poor, but is training and educating them, so that the cycle of poverty may be broken in future generations. God is using the ministry to actively change lives through ICM's local churches, leadership training, children’s homes and programs, and ICM's many various humanitarian outreaches. ICM’s three primary values for the ministry are Worship, the Word of God and Works of service.
James and Sarah met in India while Sarah was on a missions trip. They have been married for over 13 years now and have three wonderful daughters. James earned his Bachelors of Theology degree from Southern Asia Christian College in Chennai and his Masters of Divinity from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa. He is a third generation minister. Sarah graduated from ORU with a BA in International Community Development with minors in Non-profit admin and Education. Together they are leading ICM as it dramatically impacts the lives of thousands across the state.
The vision of Christian Ministries in India is:
1. Restoring Intimacy with God
2. Renewing Passion and Purpose
3. Revitalizing the Church & Reviving Nominal ‘Christians’
4. Reaching the Lost & Recruiting Disciples
5. Resting in His Presence & Remaining in Him
6. Receiving the Gifts and Fruit of the Spirit
7. Revealing the Glory of God
God is breathing new life into the Church’s expression of worship in India. For many years now the change has been gradually occurring leading the ministry to this point. Only a few years ago, worship music among believers was performed by just a singer and a single drum and often singing songs decades old. Now the ministry has fresh songs being composed and performed by worship leaders on keyboards, bringing a unique style and flavour to the worship within the churches. ICM has just released their 6th worship album, with songs coming out of the local churches.
Just as introducing keyboards into the churches took planning, provision and perseverance, so will the next step in ICM's development. ICM is creating a worship team that will travel around the state, leading people into the worship of God and also demonstrating the fullness of a life of worship. ICM has acquired their own professional sound system that will enable them to be more self-sufficient when playing at larger venues. ICM is training people on instruments other than the keyboard such as the guitar, bass guitar and percussion.
ICM's greatest need right now for Covenant Worship is more instruments that will enable them to better equip and train a new generation of worship leaders in this developing worship movement. Each new move of God is accompanied by a renewal of worship, with new songs and new sounds appropriate for the age and culture. India Christian Ministries has been instrumental in laying the groundwork for what is now quickly intensifying: a passionate, God-breathed, fresh experience of worship.
If you are a worship leader or worship team member who would interested in bringing a team to lead worship here, train our worship leaders and assist in further developing our worship program, please contact worship@indiachristianministries.org.
